~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hiei
had found a weak spot and opened a gate between Makai and Ningenkai. He
made his way back to Mukuro’s palace. Ha
practically blew all the youkai’s in his way, not even bothering to
check if those youkais really bothered him or just walking minding their
own business. Mukuro raised her head. Her best warrior had returned
quicker that she’d thought and practically setting her palace into
flames. She
just wanted to turn around and catch the over emotional fire demon,
dumping him into the dungeon until he comes back to his senses when Hiei
burst into her room. Not bothering to ask him weather he knew how to
knock or not, she sighed. “Omae no mondai nan da yo?” she asked
irritatingly at the youkai. Hiei was silent, gluing his eyes on the cold
hard floor. Mukuro gritted her teeth. Practically burning his way in
here and nothing to say? “Hiei? do you know that I could easily dump
you into the dungeon because you had burned most of my guards into
ashes?” asked Mukuro. Hiei nodded once. “Ii, now tell me what’s
your problem?” she sat back on her chair, still facing the little
koorime. Hiei was still silent and Mukuro kept waiting. She had enough
of work for today though. Time to have some fun torturing this
particular youkai. Mukuro
sighed. “Ok, you had practically pleaded me for a two weeks so called
holiday and…,” suddenly Hiei cut in. “I didn’t plead.” Mukuro
snarled. “Shut up. I haven’t finished talking yet,” she blared at
the kneeling youkai. Knowing that the power in her voice would make Hiei
speak, she waited for a while. “I
got humiliated by a stupid ningen in front of…,” Hiei paused. “And I got slapped by…,” he paused again. If he told
Mukuro about Kurama, what would she say? Would she laugh? A forbidden
child, having the most beautiful youkai for a lover. Would she even
believe it? And telling her that Kurama slapped him, would that make her
think that he’s weak?:… Maybe she won’t realise it? No, she’s
smart too …: he hated himself for exposing too much of himself to this
woman. “Who?”
asked Mukuro. “… Yuusuke,” lied Hiei. Mukuro stood up angrily.
“You liar,” she snarled. Hiei looked up from the floor. He had the
feeling that she would know that he had lied, but he went on with the
lie. “What, you think I’m stupid? Yuusuke is having a party and I
know you didn’t attend it. Obviously you didn’t seen him for quite a
while,” she told Hiei balefully. “Gomen,” Hiei uttered softly. Mukuro
went nearer to the kneeling Hiei, face still glued to the floor. The
other half of her face was hidden well in the dark room. “I knew
exactly who you last saw by the reaction of your face,” said Mukuro. “I
think I’d better leave,” said Yukiko. Kurama made no effort to stop
her. Before she left, she stopped by the door. “Doumo arigatou for
treating my wounds,” she uttered. Kurama nodded. And Yukiko left,
closing the door behind her. Suddenly
Kurama felt like asking Yuusuke’s help to find Hiei. He had to. It was
all his fault. Deciding that, he changed and went out if his house,
going straight to Urameshi’s. He
knocked at the door. “Dare ga?” asked a voice from inside. Atsuko
opened the door. “Ah, Kurama-chan. Ohairi, ohairi. Yuusuke is
inside,” she invited him in. The
party was still on, but only the Reikai Tantei team was there. “Ah,
Kurama! you said you weren’t coming!” greeted Kuwabara with a
mouthful of chips. Kurama smiled wearily. “Actually I came to ask for
help from you guys,” he said, sitting down beside Yuusuke.
“Dooshite, Kurama?” asked Keiko, worried at the look on Kurama’s
face. “Saa…
I fought with Hiei,” he started. “Oh, who won?” asked Kuwabara
excitedly. He hoped that Kurama had beaten some senses into that shrimp.
“No, Kuwabara. Not that kind of fight. I mean a fight where he became
angry at me and smash the window glass. Going out of it, he disappeared
into… I don’t know. That’s why I wanted your help,” explained
Kurama. Kuwabara
curled his lips. “So, the shrimp is angry,” Kuwabara speculated.
Kurama nodded. Yuusuke frowned at Kurama. He knew Hiei better than to
just fight with Kurama without Kurama doing anything to provoke it
first. “Kurama, did you do anything to him first?” he asked. Kurama
who had his head hanging weakly from his neck nodded once. “What did
you do, Kurama-san?” asked Keiko, placing a soothing hand on his back. “I
slapped him,” Kurama answered slowly. “Ah,” they all said. Kurama
looked up. “I know it’s my fault. But, he was extremely rude to my
guest. He called her a bitch!” Kurama defended himself. “What is a
girl doing in Minamino’s residence with your parents on holiday?”
asked Kuwabara. “Yeah, Hiei might think that also,” said Yuusuke.
“But she was wounded and fell in my backyard. I just took her up to my
room and treated her wounds,” reasoned Kurama. “But did you tell
that to Hiei?” asked Koenma. “Yeah, he might be just concern about
his best friend. You know
how Hiei hides his concern for everyone,” said Keiko. Kurama nodded.
“I did told him,” he uttered. “Kurama-san, you are not telling us
the whole story. How can we help you?” said Yukina. Kurama
nodded. he told the story from where he found Yukiko, and Hiei came, he
told Hiei about the injured girl, promising that she would be away by
tomorrow. And when he came back the next day, he saw Yukiko still in his
room. Kurama introduced Hiei to Yukiko and then, the fight starts. With
Hiei starting it. Although he didn’t mean to as his sarcastic remarks
are futile to all his other ‘friends’ with Yukiko getting the wrong
meaning of it, she countered back. And Hiei countered back rudely. “…
I can’t stand that Hiei was throwing bad remarks at my guest, so I
slapped him,” Kurama ended his story. “Won’t he think that you
should slap your guest instead, she got the wrong meaning of Hiei’s
sarcasm,” thought Kuwabara, first time in his life standing on
Hiei’s side. “Yeah, you’re suppose to be his best friend,” said
Botan. Yuusuke hit her with his fist. “Shut up Botan. Kurama felt as
bad as it is now, don’t make it worse,” he scolded her. Botan
scratched her head sheepishly. “Gomen nasai,” she apologised. To
all their surprise, Kurama was shedding tears. Warm tear droplets fell
on his hand. “Look Botan, what have you done,” exclaimed Yuusuke.
Keiko kept patting Kurama’s back. “Ok,
ok. Now… I know a person who might know where he is,” said Koenma.
“Who?” they all, except Kurama asked. He’s too sad to look up. “Mukuro,”
Koenma answered. So,
Kuwabara, Yuusuke, Kurama and Botan set off to Makai. “Be careful!”
said Keiko and Yukina. Reaching
Mukuro’s palace, they all were greeted by one of her still alive
youkai guards. “It’s
Kurama isn’t it?” asked Mukuro. Hiei was silent. “Speak warrior,
is it him?” Mukuro forced him. Hiei nodded once. Mukuro sighed. She
knew it for a long time. :… Two of the most powerful youkais in Makai
is falling for each other. Saa, anything could happen between youkais
…: she noted mentally. “Aha…
so you were humiliated by a ningen in front of Kurama and was slapped by
Kurama. Don’t you think it’s extreme? I think it is… anyway what
are you going to do about it?” asked Mukuro. “Nothing, I just came
back to say I cancelled my…,” Hiei paused. “Your holiday?” she
asked. Hiei nodded once. Mukuro smiled. “Ok.” “Who
are you?” asked the guard. “Ah, I’m Koenma. I’m here to visit
Mukuro,” said Koenma. “Mukuro-sama don’t except visitors. We are
only ordered to let in the people who she ordered to,” said the guard.
“Try me, tell her I’m
here,” said Koenma. The guard nodded. Mukuro’s
intercom rang. “What?” she pressed a button. “A guy named Koenma
wanted to see you, Mukuro-sama,” it told her. “Is he alone?” asked
Mukuro. “Em, no. There’s a big tall guy, Yuusuke and a guy with long
red hair with him,” said the guard. Hiei’s eyes fired with rage in
the mention of ‘a guy with long red hair’ as he knew it was
definitely Kurama. “Mmm… ask someone to lead them to my room,”
said Mukuro. She
turned to face Hiei back. “Do you want to see him?” Hiei shook his
head. “Yoshi, go to your room,” she ordered him. “I’ll settle
this for you,” she continued. “Doumo,” Hiei uttered softly, barely
audible by Mukuro. She watched Hiei walking slowly towards the door. “Hiei?”
she called. Hiei paused, but he was silent. “Are you sure you don’t
want to see Kurama?” asked Mukuro. Hiei opened his mouth, but decided
against it. He kept quiet. Mukuro sighed. “Ok, ok. Get out,” she
shooed him out. A
few moments after Hiei went out of the dark room, a knock was heard. “Hairu,”
she said sitting comfortably on her chair, pretending to do some work. The
big door cracked opened. It was dark, lighted only by the lamp on
Mukuro’s desk. The guard left her room quickly and shut the door. The
four of them walked over to Mukuro’s desk. “Komban wa, Mukuro-san,”
said Koenma. Mukuro looked up from her work and scanned each of their
faces. Kurama especially have puffy eyes. She didn’t knew that Kurama
was this ‘sentimental’. :… But it’s your fault, you slapped Hiei
…: she noted mentally at Kurama. “Anything
that I could be in favour of, Koenma-sama?” asked Mukuro, pretending
not to know anything. Kuwabara slammed her table, a few papers were
flying. Kuwabara took a deep breath and “YOU BETTER TELL US WHERE THE
HELL HIEI IS BEFORE I Kirgh yoer backmfhh fhhfhhh…” Yuusuke covered
his mouth nervously. “Kuwabara! She’s an S-class youkai!” he
whispered sternly at Kuwabara, letting his mouth go. “S-class?”
Kuwabara echoed the word. “Oh, gomen nasai oboette imasu,” he
apologised and started to pick up the flying papers. It took all of
Mukuro’s will power not to laugh herself off at the look of the big
guy’s attitude. She kept a stern look on her face. Hiei
looked out the window. He was given this big room in Mukuro’s
palace. A big soft bed and all. :… What Kurama called a suite. And
I rather sleep in his futon actually …: then another voice snorted. :… You still thinking of that stupid kitsune who slapped you
without thinking twice? Thank god he hadn’t any katana with him, or
you’ll be cut into half! …: protested that voice. Hiei winced at
that statement. He tried to
look into the darkness in Makai, but there’s only fog and darkness.
:… Just like my soul. The only being in my life wouldn’t think twice
before hitting me …: He
settled on the sill, putting one leg over his chest and the other
dangling outside the window. He tore a cloth off his shirt and took his
katana, polishing it with it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Wahaha!
