Kurama said. Hiei
stared at Kurama, unbelieving. The
koorime thought Kurama was playing another one of his jokes, he loved to
torment Hiei with. Uncertain
what to say or do, Hiei settled by glaring at the fox, but otherwise
stayed distant and cold. Kurama
stared at Hiei in turn. `I mean it, Hiei.
It's all over. We're done.' The
youko said again. This time
speaking more clearly and slowly. `NANI?!
What the hell are you talking about, Fox? Hiei bit down on those
words. Kurama sighed.
He slowly stood up to break eye contact with the fire demon and
walked over the window. `I know you heard me.
I don't need to repeat
myself....twice.' Hiei stared back at Kurama
again. His mind in total
chaos. What was happening? Kurama--
his Kurama has just broken up with him.
After everything they shared, the friendship, the support, the
loyalty, the youko wanted out?
Was the youko playing with him? Hiei
swiftly stood in front of Kurama. `Why?'
asked the koorime. Kurama looked taken aback by
the question and for a moment Hiei thought he saw a flicker of unease
passed over the kitsune's features.
The redhead gazed at Hiei, as if considering the question then
intense emerald eyes wavered and transferred their scrutiny
down his tensed, clasped hand. `When
we---when I courted you...it was everything to me, Hiei.' And
at Hiei's disbelieving stare. `Please don't ever think I
was playing with you. I
loved you.' Kurama faltered
a bit, then seeming to gain courage, continued. `Our first
six months were the best, Hiei.
We had been to too many struggles, but we made it through.
And I'm glad. I'm
proud of it--I...' `What
exactly is your point, Kurama?' interrupted Hiei, dropping the `fox'
namesake. `My point--the thing I
really want to say is I wont take anymore.
I've suffered enough already.' Kurama felt hot tears at the
back of his eyes and fought them back.
He took a deep shaky breath. `Hiei, I'm sorry.
Ai shiteru, I really do, b-but we can't,
we don't seem to fit,' Kurama said breathing deeply. `Hiei, I'm sorry.' Kurama
whispered again. He moved
away from the windowsill and sat down on his bed,
far away from Hiei. Hiei immediately left his
perch from the window and disappeared in the ningenkai night.
With Hiei gone, Kurama finally collapsed on the bed.
The redhead moaned painfully and buried his face on his pillow,
wishing his own death, anything but this, the burning and aching pain of
loss. It had taken all his
willpower not to break down in front of Hiei.
No, that wasn't his style. He
was a legendary youko. His
feelings for the fire demon had made him get down his perch
from his almighty ego as a gorgeous, powerful makai demon.
He has always worn his ningen heart on his sleeve, but he had
finally broken up with Hiei. `Hiei, now you are free.
Best wishes, itooshi, the redhead whispered brokenly before
finally giving in to the
full force to the pain in his heart. *********************************
Hiei was standing amidst the
darkness that enfolded all of the ningenkai. The half koorime stared down at the deserted streets.
Strangely, he missed the sounds of `stupid' ningens busily going
about their stupid ningen customs.
He ache for....no not ache.. he felt more like he had lost
something valuable to him. Sighing,
the fire demon flitted off to the nearest ningenkai forest and farthest
from a certain redhead's residence. He found his way to his
usual hideaway tree and settled down considerably. Enough to bring back disturbing thoughts inside his head.
Kurama's piercing words drumming inside his tired head and aching
heart. `Damn it!' Hiei exploded.
His mind was in a rage, his breath coming in heavy gasps as a
tightness settled on his chest. He
rubbed his right fist on it, willing it to subside, give him time to
think What was he to do now? Let
the stupid fox have his way, allow him to just severe their ties?
Maybe he needed to go back to Mukuro now.
No he would not want that, but maybe he did.
But Kurama---what will become of him?
Hiei's thoughts chased inside his confused head.
If he were to leave ningenkai forever and never come back--leave
the fox....Hiei felt his chest tighten again.
He imagined himself in the makai, standing side by side with
Mukuro. Maybe accepting the
makai ruler's guileless offers for something more than friendship.
And Kurama.... Hiei's brows knotted together, ruby eyes glinted.
Kurama would be married to one of those stupid , swooning ningen
girls and fathered six children, no less.
Hiei glared at the night sky. `THAT STUPID FOX!'
He'll never get away with it, if he had his way.----- Hiei's
thoughts halted abruptly. <Wait a minute> Hiei
thought, <if I have my way, I-I'll CHAIN Kurama forever with me, keep
him to my side. That way I
can be sure no one else touches him.> A feral grin came and went in the
fire demon's crimson eyes. `Breaking up with me?
Hn. We'll see about that.' ************************************* (INTERMISSION) Shruriken (sweatdrops) : Um...
I'm glad I'm being anonymous here or else Hiei will get my hide Kurama: Nani?
What did you do? Shuriken:

this over fast! Kurama: We don't get to rest? Shuriken: Gomen ni, Kurama-chan,
but this show has to go on Hiei: Hn.
Baka ningen. What are you up to this time? Shuriken: Something I know you
both like (I hope) ****************** Kurama was drifting to a
peaceful slumber when he felt a gust of wind dislodge his blanket.
Opening sleepy eyes, he groped blindly for the annoying object
and gasped when he found himself pushed unto the bed, a hand quickly
covered his mouth. `Mmmph' Kurama tried in vain
to speak, but his captor decided to play safe and gagged him.
Kurama's eyed widened in alarm.
His ki rose alarmingly, then wavered as a ward was placed on one
of his wrists.
The kitsune struggled and attempted to kick, only to realize the
binds on both feet and wrists as well.
The redhead could only stare, stunned as his attacker slowly
undressed him. Tears of
hopelessness rushed freely on his cheeks as he grasped what was about to
be done to him. He moved
his head from side to side as if denying his fate.
Unknowingly, his action gave his captor easy access to his
sensitive neck. Kurama
shivered involuntarily as hot lips trailed a path from the cord of his
neck down to his cheeks. `Sssh.
Time for love, my redhead. There
will be no denying me this time,' said a deep voice, then taking the
gag, crushed Kurama's lips in a hungry, possessive kiss. Dawn came fast or so Hiei
thought. He snuggled more
closely to the warmth entangled with him.
He gazed lovingly at his loved one.
Kurama. Last night,
he had taken a great risk, came to the redhead and claimed him.
Hiei's eyes clouded. He
had taken the fox by force, not by sweet words or seductive
persuasion---but by force. He
felt deeply grieved. Kurama
would probably have him eaten by makai demon plants after regaining
strength. Kuso. Now he has
done it! Hiei stood up
cautiously, fearing Kurama's awakening. He needed time to think and reassess the situation.
After dressing hurriedly, the fire demon left with a slight
displacement of air. Kurama felt chilled.
Muttering something, he stirred slightly, searching for warmth on
the bed. Then the event of
last night caught up with him, making him sit up abruptly, heart
pounding. `HIEI!
Kurama spoke the name explosively. That--that fire demon, he
actually had the guts to --to.... Kurama bit his still sore lip.
He hated even saying the word to himself.
Surveying his room, he wearily covered his face with his hands. `Oh,
Hiei. What are we gonna do?' The redhead slumped back on
the bed. He wondered if he
should laugh or cry. But
since he was due for school in another hour, he thought better of it. <might as well wallow on
this silently> his thoughts advised and hugged himself
as he waited for morning to come.
A week had passed...... `Hiei, I know you're in
here. Show yourself,'
Kurama called to the fire demon softly, but firmly.
He placed his books on the study table and sat on his bed.
He waited for the half koorime to materialize. Hiei came out of his hiding and
stood downcast before the redhead. `Ku-Kurama...' Hiei began. `No, Hiei, let me speak first,'
interrupted the kitsune. `No, listen to me,' Hiei
interposed staring Kurama down. The
youko glared at Hiei and sighed, nodding acquiescence to Hiei. `I--I did something I know I
shouldn't have.' Hiei started hesitantly. `But I don't regret it, Kurama.'
The koorime stared at the haunting green eyes for the first time. `You may think otherwise, but I
feel differently. And for
that.... I-I'm sorry. I
never meant for you to get hurt,' Hiei said softly and bowed his head,
waiting for Kurama's response. Kurama closed his eyes.
The sight of Hiei dejected and uncertain was unbearable even to
himself. He exhaled,
releasing the tension within his lungs.
He was clinching and unclenching his hand. `H-Hiei, I told you that night
before you--we,' he stopped, then cleared his throat. ` I broke up with
you and told you I've had enough.' Hiei bit his lips hard to prevent
a cry of anguish from escaping. Waves
and waves of pain wracked his heart. This was it. The
final blow from Kurama. Kurama had stopped speaking again,
trying to gather strength for what he was about to say. `I
lied, Hiei,' Kurama said shakily. `NANI??!' Hiei glared at
Kurama and stepped closer. The
redhead held up his hand. `No,
Hiei, please stay there,' Kurama wearily ran his hand through his hair.
Hiei's eyes followed suit and crimson eyes smoldered unknown to the
seductive redhead. `I broke up with you before
we got really involved. I
was thinking, you wouldn't want to be beholden with me, trapped in a
world you so much despised. I
had given you your freedom, Hiei, but now I'm afraid I'm taking it
back,' Kurama's eyes became cold. `You have made freedom
impossible Hiei, not after what you've done.
There's no turning back now. ' Kurama paused for breath and
contemplated Hiei. `So what do you say?
Do you regret what happened That Night?' Kurama asked a bit
coldly. But
Hiei merely stared at the kitsune incredulously. `You heard what I said Hiei.
I can't--wont let you go anymore.
You're stuck with me.' `Hn.'
At last the stunned fire demon found his voice. `Stupid fox!
Did I ever say I'm letting go?
I just proved to you That Night I'm staying--forever,' said the
koorime as he grabbed the redhead's sidelocks and gave the kitsune a
searing kiss full of possession and promise. <stupid,
idiot, sexy, maddening, gorgeous, irresistible kitsune> was Hiei's
last coherent thought. ~OWARI~ |
