"When Rome ruled all the world, `'tis said,

Dear Venus, hearts of men you led

To love, the great delight of life

With spell of beauty, not of strife,

Your power's still undimmed, I know,

To me true love in life now show

Bring the love to me on wings of sounds,

At happiness and joy abound

With every act  and thought of mine,

Let me attract my love divine

Now quickly bring my love me,

And as my will, so mote it be!"

Kurama gasped and sat abruptly on his futon.  He had the weirdest, most troublesome dream.  The kitsune rubbed his eyes with the back of his hands.

"Hn.  Why are you still awake?"

"Hiei!  Did you just come in?"

"Hn.  Stupid fox.  I've been watching you for some time now."

"Oh."  The fox blinked adorable, big emerald eyes to the fire demon and smiled seductively.  Hiei gaped at him, almond ruby eyes growing big.

"Wanna come to bed now, sweetie?" The redhead asked, suggestively running his tongue on his lower lip and flicking strands of red hair sexily.  The fire demon practically growled and dived on the kitsune.

"My, my.  Aren't we hot today?" Kurama smiled, anticipation bubbling inside his chest.

"Yeah, it's hot and you have too many clothes on." The fire demon rasped as he tore the kitsune's pajamas off.

"Hiei..." Kurama's protest stopped in mid-sentence as the fire demon moved against him. "H-Hiei." Kurama whimpered. "Please...."

"Now you're talking sense, fox." The fire youkai grinned as he quickly divested himself of his clothing and joined the fox on the bed.  Neither of them got any sleep till morning.

*************************

Kurama had a headache.  It could have been a major one, but since he enjoyed a totally romantic night, dawn and morning with Hiei, who was he to complain?  The redhead had a goofy expression on his face until he came face to face with a schoolmate.

"Ohayou Minamino-san," A girl said as a wisp of her perfume filled the air.

"H-hi yourself.' Kurama smiled back and frowned.  That smell...what was it?  He swore he'd never scented such sweet, intoxicating, exciting, seductive perfume.  Kurama closed his eyes and inhaled deeply.  When he opened them again, he found himself staring at what `he' thought were the most adorable brown eyes, most kissable lips and most beautiful skin just waiting to be touched.  Kurama's eyes registered love signs.  The redhead quickly clasped the brown-eyed girl's hand and slowly took out a single long-stemmed pink rose, kissed it and gave it to the expectant girl, who for all the world looked like she'd just gone to seventh heaven.  Her love potion worked.

"Mio-san?" The redhead's lips trembled.  He had never felt so much love before.  He felt like he couldn't hide it much longer.  He needed to tell her how much she made his heart ache.

"Yes?"  Mio, the girl who had so deviously planned and used the love potion wanted to scream with happiness.  She could see in her peripheral vision dozens of girls at school stopping to gape at the spectacle.  Probably wondering what the heck Minamino saw in her and what she had that they haven't got.

What else could it be?  Love potion! Mio giggled softly to herself.

"Mio will you go out with me, after school?" The redhead asked unsure and afraid to be turned down.  He was in the throes of his first love.

"Oh, Minamino! I'd love to!" Mio exclaimed as she pounced on the youko and kissed him full on the lips.  All the girls hissed and contemplated throwing their books at her, but Minamino might get hurt.  When Mio broke the kiss, the redhead's face was as red as his hair, but he wore a super beam of a smile on his face.  The dozen or more girls and few boys cried and displaced, wanting to get away and mourn for they have lost their Minamino.

Hiei was at his usual tree just outside Kurama's school and facing the very front of the school gate.  He was taking a leisurely nap while waiting for his fox, when the school bell rang followed by screaming and bellowing, like there was a mass funeral or something.  The fire demon sat up quickly, first thought on his fox.  If anything happened to his fox....  He stared stupefied at several girls and boys sobbing and sniffing and walking dejectedly.

"What the hell is going on?  Where is Kurama?" The fire demon muttered to himself in alarm.  He was about to uncover his jagan when he saw a familiar redheaded bishounen coming out.  Hiei smiled.  His fox was chattin--....

"NANI?!" Hiei's smiled turned into a smirk then into a very fierce scowl at what he saw.  The fox wasn't just chatting, he was cheating!  Chatting up with a girl with a goofy expression on his face.  Hiei almost fell on the tree where he perched.  It couldn't be.  He quickly made an- ahem, overview of last night's events.  OK.  Last night, they made love.  Dawn, they made love.  Come morning, they made love.  Kuso!  They hadn't had a fight. All they ever did was to love again and again.  Hiei just couldn't understand the fox.  He was sometimes funny with his ningen ways, but this was way over crazy.  It was horrible, detestable!  But Hiei was not a master of the kokuryuha for nothing.    Hiei jumped down the tree.  His left arm was already smoking.

"Yo, Hiei!" Yusuke called the fire demon.  Hiei turned his death glare at the brown-haired reikai tantei leader.

"Whoa!" Yusuke and Kuwabara took a step back.

"Hiei, what is it?" Yusuke asked.  Kuwabara lost track of the conversation very quickly, eyes riveted to a certain redhead coming their way.

"Hey, Kurama!" Kuwabara called cheerfully and caught Hiei's and Yusuke's attention.  Yusuke and Kuwabara sweatdropped as Kurama passed them by without so much as a by your leave.  The redhead was too busy plastering puppy emerald eyes to his companion.  Hiei snarled and moved to follow the two, fully intending to drag the fox by his hair, chain and shackle, tie him up and even gag him.  That should teach the stupid fox a lesson about ties that bind.  Then the fire demon wondered why he hadn't moved an inch since, he turned and saw both Yusuke and Kuwabara holding on to him for dear life.

"Baka! Let me go! I'll teach that cheating fox a lesson!"

"No, Hiei.  Listen. Calm down!"  Yusuke entreated the fire demon, still holding him fast.

"Yeah shrimp.  Loosen up." Kuwabara said.  "I think there's something wrong with Kurama." He added.

"What do you mean?' Yusuke and Hiei asked simultaneously.

Kuwabara puffed his chest and cleared his throat.

"I, the brilliant..." he began.

"Cut the crap you big oaf!" Hiei interceded.

"Who're you calling big oaf shrimp?"

"Who else can be more of a baka than you?"

"Why you little snooty..."

"All right. Stop this already!" Yusuke shouted and grabbed the collars of both Kuwabara and Hiei.  "If you two won't stop...I swear..."

"BAKA!"

"SHRIMP!"

"I said stop! Arrrgh!" Hiei, do you wanna know what's wrong with Kurama or not?" Yusuke asked in exasperation.  Hiei quieted down and frowned.

"What?"

"Why are you asking me?" Yusuke asked back.

"...." Huge sweatdrops appear on both Hiei's and Kuwabara's heads.

"Ok, Kuwa  say your piece." Yusuke invited the carrot-head.

"Hmp.  As I was saying before the shrimp interrupted, I the great..."

"Not that again, skip that part" Yusuke ground out in frustration.  He was already clawing his hair.  Kuwabara continued like he was never interrupted.

"...Kurama had this big goofy and blank eyes.  He didn't even recognize us."

"Did you say blank eyes?" Hiei questioned.

"Something wrong with your hearing shrimp?"  Kuwabara snickered.  Hiei scowled darkly.  He wanted nothing more than to beat Kuwabara to a pulp, but right now he had more pressing matters to attend to.

"Ah, Hiei, I think I should watch Kurama while you and Kuwabara investigate the school.  Maybe there's some mind-possessing youkai somewhere nearby." Yusuke said.  He was really feeling sorry for the hurting fire demon, who was trying to hide his hurt with anger.

"No, I should be the one following Kurama..." Hiei protested a bit mildly.  He was thankful for the support.  Even the big oaf was helping too.

"I don't think so.  You're too emotionally involved.  Kurama or that girl might end up getting scorched.:"  Yusuke said lamely and instantly clam up the at the fire demon's  murderous expression.

"Ok, Kuwa, go with Hiei, OK?"   Yusuke leaned in  very close to Kuwabara's ears and whispered, "And don't  be such an ass to Hiei, at least not today." He warned.  Kuwabara nodded solemnly.  Yusuke could always count on him.  Yusuke nodded, then he saw something on the ground.  He frowned.  It looked like a little pouch.  The reikai tantei leader picked it up.

"What is it?" Kuwabara asked, looking over Yusuke's shoulder.  Yusuke opened the pouch and coughed.

"What the heck is this?"  Kuwabara extended his hand, fingering the powder inside the pouch.  "What kind of smell is this?  It's..." The carrot-hair  youth stopped and frowned.  Just then, the girl, Mio came back and snatched the pouch.

"I think this belongs to me." She said and smiled.  "Thanks.  I thought I lost it." She then turned to go.  She squeaked as she was grabbed back and sweatdropped as Kuwabara kneeled in front of her.

"Go out with me, pretty--please?"  The carrot-hair youth implored on bended knees and kissed the girl's hand.  Hiei and Yusuke watched them, sweatdropping as well.

"Nani?  This is not supposed to be happening."  Mio stomped her foot in frustration, snatching back her hand from Kuwabara's clutch.  Kurama came and glared at the carrot head.

"How dare you touch the hand of my itooshi?"  He said, grabbing the carrot-hair boy's collar.

"Kurama, hey."  Yusuke intervened.  Greatly puzzled over the behavior of his two friends.  One thing was sure, they both acted like they were possessed or something.  Hiei grabbed Kurama on the waist then.

"Got you, kitsune."  Hiei hissed.

"Wha--let me go!"  Kurama struggled in vain.  Hiei looked like he was about to cry and started loosening his hold on the fox.

"No, no, Hiei.  Don't let him go.  Something is spooky here and I bet she knows."  Yusuke pointed at Mio.

"Why me?" She asked exasperatedly and snatched her hand back from Kuwabara's hold.  He sure was persistent.  She really started to sweatdrop in earnest.

"If you want to stop him, you have to break whatever spell you have on them." Yusuke said.

Mio gaped at him.

"How did you know?"

Yusuke gaped back at her than closed his mouth.  So the pesky girl was really using a spell!

"How do you break the spell?"  Yusuke glared at her.

"Jeez, can't I have at least longer fun here?"  She asked no one in particular.  She slapped Kuwabara's hands away.  Hiei was still holding the youko immobilized.

"Release them from the spell, now!"  Yusuke commanded more forcefully.

"OK, OK already." Mio said.  Grumbling to herself she took out another pouch from her  pocket and sprinkled the lot on Kuwabara who snipped at the powder.

"A-a-achoo!  What the heck was that?" Kuwabara asked, blinking his eyes up the Yusuke.

"I-is it working?"  Yusuke asked Mio.

"How should I know?"  Mio pouted.  Yusuke grabbed Kuwabara.

"Hey, Kuwa, do you wanna date her?"

Kuwabara pushed at Yusuke's nose.

"Don't you know it's rude to be so assuming and conceited in front of a girl?  And besides Yukina might find out."

At the mention of Yukina's name, Hiei came out of his reverie.  Gods he almost fell asleep listening to their chit-chat.

"Will you three shut up and make Kurama better!"  Hiei growled, then looked down worriedly at the kitsune who was starting to slump against him in weariness.

"Well, give Kurama a sprinkling of that powder."  Yusuke ordered.

"Omigosh!"  Mio exclaimed.

"NANI?" Yusuke, Kuwabara and Hiei barked at her.

"I-I sprinkled the whole pouch on your orange-hair friend.

"NO. NO. NO!"  Hiei shouted.  He would not have another minute of this insanity.  He was missing his loving fox already.  He felt like begging.  Yes, begging on his knees just so he could get his fox back.  Mio looked really contrite, then she brightened suddenly.

"There's another way to counteract the spell!"

"How?" All three asked unanimously.  Hiei glared at Yusuke and Kuwabara, willing them to shut up.

"Well now, let's see...."  Mio mumbled thoughtfully to herself.

"I know!  The book says that the spell of love can be revoked by an act of love between the one affected by the spell and his or her lover."

Yusuke frowned, then smiled.

"Why didn't you say so right away?"

"Hmp!  How could I think straight when the two of you keep on whining in front of me."

"NANI?  What did you say?"  Yusuke and Kuwabara glared daggers at her.

"Erm.  That was just a joke...." Mio laughed nervously.

"Can I just give him one last kiss?"  Mio extended her hand toward the unconscious redhead.

"NO!"  Hiei snarled, fangs ready to embed themselves on Mio's hand.

"Help!  He bites!"  Mio screamed, snatching her hand back.

"Tell me about it."  Kuwabara muttered.

Yusuke grabbed Mio's hand and Kuwabara's hair.

"Ittai!  Yusuke let me go!"

"It's time for us to leave Kurama and Hiei alone, ne?"

As whining could be heard, the fire demon gently settled the redhead more securely on his arms and flitted to Kurama's ningen apartment.  Hiei gently settled Kurama on the bed.  He fingered Kurama's eyebrows gently and kissed the kitsune's closed weary eyelids.  The fire demon sighed softly.  Relieved that Kurama was back in his bedroom, far away from that deranged girl's clutches.  He slowly undressed the kitsune, intending to change him into a pair of pajamas.  The youkai froze when the redhead moaned softly.

"W-water...." Kurama whispered as Hiei quickly took a glass from Kurama's bathroom and gently helped the kitsune to drink.

"H-Hiei?"  Kurama asked as he drank thirstily, emerald eyes never wavering, looking quizzically at the fire demon.

"W-what happened?"

"Hn.   Nothing.  You just got yourself all worked up."  The fire youkai muttered.

"H-Hiei, I-I feel so hot."  The kitsune said shyly and hesitantly.  He really felt weird.  His body was tingling all over.  He felt like he wanted something, but he couldn't pinpoint exactly.

"Let me help you, fox."  Hiei whispered gently, the compact body tense and quivering as he softly kissed the sexy redhead on the lips.  There was like a flash of electricity as Kurama moaned and shivered, hands embracing the fire youkai.  At Kurama's reaction, the fire demon hungrily plundered the redhead's lips, hands moving lower.  Re-acquainting himself with Kurama's soft, perfect body.  Just then the phone rang.  Hiei let it ringing.  He had no time for talking, besides his lips were too busy on the kitsune's neck.

"H-Hiei, the phone...."  Kurama whispered, arching his neck to allow the fire demon more access.

"Hn.  Leave it."  The fire demon said, nipping at Kurama's skin, then gently lapping it with his tongue.

"B-but, Hiei...."  Kurama protested gently, pushing Hiei away.

"Alright."  The fire demon gritted as he picked up the phone.

"WHAT?!" He asked rudely.

"Hmm.  Hiei?  Is that you?"  Yusuke asked on the other line.

"What do you want?"  Hiei snarled.

"Just wanted to tell you.  Mio said the spell will wear off by itself without a scent of her perfume.  Hello?  Hello?  Hiei?  Damn.  He hang up on me!" Yusuke glared at the phone while Kuwabara looked at him expectantly.

Hiei settled himself on top of Kurama again as the redhead welcomed him back with open arms.

"What was that all about?"  Kurama asked.

'Hn.  Nothing."  The fire demon grinned as he swooped down on his sexy kitsune.
