"Kurama, Kurama, wake up, wake up!"

 "Ka-kaasan?"

"Wake up child and fight.  Use your ki, you still have it."

"H-how?  I don't know how...."  Shuuichi whimpered.  He felt very weak.

"Calm yourself.  Let me guide you."  The voice whispered softly, but urgently.  Shuuichi felt the power rising within him and without conscious thought, commanded his plants to attack the youkai, who without compaction had started to drain him of his ki.  Wild grass and weeds grew in demonic power into sharp pointed tips like knives and swords and hurled themselves at the female youkai's body.

"Aaah!"  The youkai reeled back, sharp knives and swords embedded on her vital organs, pumping poison into her system.  She did not last another second.  Karasu stared in shock at the demon's cadaver and watched in renewed fear at the redhead who had transformed into his youko half.  Kurama was back.  Youko kurama's golden eyes glittered coldly and calmly flicked  the shackles on his wrists.  Before Karasu could react, Kurama had  flicked a seed on his chest.  The youko smiled at youkai.

"Farewell Karasu."

***************

Hiei fell back as a huge explosion wrecked the derelict building where Kurama was supposed to have been held captive.

"Kurama!"  The fire demon quickly flitted, despite the smoke and dust engulfing the whole area.  He opened his jagan, desperately trying to see a glimpse of the redhead.  There was no sign of Kurama.

"What the...."  Kuwabara gasped and gazed at the rubbles that had been once a building.

"What happened?"  Yusuke asked no one in particular.  Hiei did not answer, but flitted off to find the possibly trapped redhead.  If anything happened to Kurama....

***************

Kurama had transformed back into his human form.  The redhead's face was grim.  He crumpled on the ground, sobbing.  It hadn't worked.  He had asked Inari to help him forget his youko background.  But the past kept coming back to pester him. It was punishment.  His past was never going to let him go.  Kurama wiped off the tears on his eyes and stood up slowly.  He was going to pretend that nothing had happened.  He would go on playing like he had no recollection of the reikai and the makai.  After all, he had finished off Karasu.  The redhead took a seed on his hair.  With a slight burst of his ki, he fashioned a knife and cut off his already long hair, a testimony to the final dissolution of the cycle of change.  He was back to being 18-years old again, right back where he started.
