Yomi eyed the fire demon and the reincarnated youko as they entered back to the throne room after their private talk.  The makai lord unconsciously expelled a relieved sigh at the smile Kurama gave him.  For a while he thought... he had been anxiously feeling, discerning the feelings between the fire demon and the youko.  Afraid to find something deeper than being just best friends.  In fact if someone asked him, he would rather have the youko next to him for the rest of the visit.  Just to make sure.  He had always loved the redheaded kitsune despite all the grievances the youko had given him in the past.  He didn't care.  He wanted Kurama.  He knew how much Kurama's ningen aspect had considerably mellowed down the wild youko spirit.  Kurama was more beautiful, more irresistible than ever now that he had a gentler, more human side.  Yomi fully intended to woo the kitsune during his whole visit in the makai.

 ***************

Kurama came to stand next to Yomi.  The makai lord smiled at him, holding the youko's hand fast.  Kurama's ready smile wavered a little.  It was as if Yomi was shackling him to his side.  Kurama's preservation instinct as a human, told him to run as fast as he could to the ningenkai, but his youko aspect turned his proud nose at the very idea of running.  He intended to get to the bottom of Yomi's affectionate gestures.  The redhead resigned himself, but winced a bit as Yomi's other hand encircled his slender waist.  The kitsune assumed a blank, emotionless face.  Yomi guided him gently toward a throng of important makai personalities.  The youko almost threw himself at Yusuke in relief, when they bumped into him.

"Hey, Kurama."  Yusuke hollered.  The former reikai tantei eyed Yomi's possessive hand on Kurama's waist and stared at the youko's pleading gaze.

"Can I steal Kurama for a while?"

Kurama disengaged himself quickly and grabbed Yusuke, leaving a frowning Yomi.

 ***************

"God, Kurama.  Are you and Yomi getting married or something?"  The brown-haired boy asked.

"Do I look like a happy camper to you?"  Inari I sound like a whining woman.  The youko covered his face.

"So, you are getting married."  Yusuke said, stunned.

Kurama hastily looked around if someone heard and glared at Yusuke.

"I AM NOT!  Please shut up!"  Kurama hissed.  "Anyhow, thanks.  That was getting suffocating out there."  The redhead smiled weakly at his friend.

"Kurama you are in deep shit."  Yusuke remarked, shaking his head.

"I know it.  I should not have gone back here."

"But Hiei needs us, more importantly, he needs you.  You were the closest friend he ever had next to Mukuro."

Kurama's heart ached a little at being considered "next to Mukuro" and he silently marveled at the alien thought.  The youko unconsciously massaged his left collarbone.

"I know that, but Yomi's making this very complicated."  The youko bit his lip.
