Kurama opened his aching eyes and almost lost consciousness again.  He was aching all over and he felt so cold.  He struggled to lift his head slowly and gasped in shock at his naked state.  Then the events of last night came rushing in.  The youko muffled his stunned sob with a fist and gingerly stood up.  Blood, his lower body parts were covered with blood.  Inari his lower parts really hurt.  The redhead shakily went to the bathroom.  Fresh tears flowed down his pale cheeks as he gazed at his bruised lips.  Blood matted his forehead, merging with the red blood color of his hair.  The youko's heart nearly exploded with pain and anger.  His trust had been betrayed.  Now he knew how it felt.  He turned on the hot steam and allowed it to cascade over his bruised body.  What had Hiei done to him?  Was it really Hiei?  Maybe he was just attacked by a shape shifter.  Maybe it was just a nightmare and he inflicted the wounds to himself.  The view on the mirror, contradicted otherwise, on the youko's neck was an indentation, a wound.  The mark of a fanged creature the fang of a koorime.

 ***************

Hiei jumped from one makai tree to the other.  The anger of last night long gone, replaced with  heavier, more deathly feelings,  the feelings of shame and guilt.  The koorime finally settled down on a pine tree and wearily closed his eyes.  Gods, what had he done?  Last night, he had brutally attacked Kurama, his best friend, or was his best friend because of blind rage.  He didn't know what possessed him, he had taken the unconscious, battered kitsune without his consent.  He raped him.  Gods, that pale face, that delicate and innocent body.  He had soiled it, marred its beauty.  He thought he could appease the loneliness and anguish of Mukuro's denial of her love for him.  No, it wasn't the youko's fault.  None of it ever was.  But in blinded rage...."  Hiei quickly stood up and wiped the tears from his eyes.  Kurama... that name only brought a deep, painful hole in his chest.  He was afraid to face him after what he'd done.  But he had to.  The poor youko was probably bleeding still.  Hiei will not lose him.  No, not ever again.  The fire demon quickly went back to the castle.

 ***************

Kurama had already dressed himself, trying very hard to steady his shaking limbs and biting his trembling, bruised lips.  The delicate youko's motions were quick and jerky.  He was afraid to see Hiei again, witness and feel the cruelty of the fire demon.  No never again.  The kitsune walked briskly.  He had to get back to the ningenkai fast, before... his heart nearly stopped beating when Hiei suddenly stood in front of him.  The youko stifled a cry of fright.  His emerald eyes already hazy with unshed tears.

"Ku-Kurama...."  Hiei said very softly, bloody tears gathering on those crimson eyes.

Kurama backed away from the fire demon.

"Don't come near me."  He warned softly.

"Kurama... gomen, gomen."  Hiei said as he came nearer the fox to touch his hand.

"NO!  Don't touch me!"  Kurama sobbed, falling on his knees, his slender frame shaking with fright.

Hiei brushed impatiently at his own tears.  Gods what had he done?  He had forgotten.  Kurama was half-human with delicate sensibilities and a fragile human body.  He had hurt the fox so deeply.

"Ku-Kurama...."  He called again, but the redhead quickly pushed him away to stand, body taut and ready for battle.

"I'm warning you, stay away from me!  Do you hear?"  The youko shouted, emerald eyes blazing with anger still overflowing with tears.  Then the youko fled as fast as he could back to the ningenkai.  The fire demon collapsed on the cold floor.  His anguish cries echoing through the emptiness of the castle.
